One major drawback of seeing a movie on the silver screen is the microscopic seats we have to deal with. Such was the case yesterday when I ventured into the theater. After sucking in the breath and plopping my wide end into the seat, I found, to my enjoyment that the arm rests lifted up to allow full spreading of my girth. At first I thought I broke the seat when I removed my jacket. The pocket got caught on the arm rest but it fell back into place, that's when I realized they lift up! I was over joyed! Seating for two! Just what this fatboy needs. It's about time someone realized that more then just children, and skinny people take in a film every now and again. Hopefully the trend towards fat friendly places continues. Loews is the theater I went to BTW.

Wow, I haven't seen cinema chair arms that raise for over 20 years!! All the new places have the fixed furniture :(

Is Loews an old place?

It's been around a few years now. It has that stadium seating with a VIP reserved seating section. What's nice is it has that "in your face" effect with the screen. The sound is also incredible. Surround theater sound effect. I was there several times before but discovered the lifting arm rest yesterday.

Several of the cinemas in my area here in Melbourne, Australia have armrests that lift.. My two str8 friends love to lift up armrest and cuddle during flicks..

... that's such a bloody great idea!
leave it to the entertainment industry to make watching a giant TV that much more enjoyable! :)
