View Full Version : Bigguts Site Activity...

It has become obvious that since the news of the site shutting down was released, activity has reduced significantly. This was expected. However, after it was stated that the website would continue operation until Nov 2011 (due to the sites registration period), operations have not returned to normal.
I was curious as to whether anyone else had noticed this, and if so, what their thoughts were on the issue.

Well my current thought for this issue was that it was the resignation of the moderators and the lack of decent content. Though I mostly beleive its the lack of new, decent content. Think of it, the only posts that ever appear are the ones of new members who want to go over the seven post rule to go and jerk off at the picture forum. Or it's the posts of authors such as our member, gain4me2, continuing his story My New Dad. So far I beleive this has been the only decent thread, this one, not the story, other than the one of the sumos. I wonder if this could be one of the reasons of why the moderators left??

Another problem is that the site is in an awkward situation... The moderators could have left because of all the spam/flame comments, which in turn has led to the site closing its doors to new members. However, this has caused a lack of new content. If the site reallowed registrations, negative threads couldnt be stopped, but if the site stays "private", nothing will really happen. So really, unless there is a system of authority/maintenance over the website, it will inevitably face the same fate as many other similar websites

I see the same decrease:(, but can't figure out why:confused:? I love positive forces; things that make us smile. If this site was worth joining, it's worth keeping in touch with.

I'd hate to think that fat haters and spammers could ultimately take down this once really fun site. It made lots of us feel like we had a home and similar feelings about ourselves and others, and haters just couldn't stand that we felt like this was a great home for us. Jealous or ?
Anyway, wish it were like it used to be.

I totally agree... something else, i havnt seen any new content since my last post! is that how bad the amount of traffic has become? its amazing how as soon as all the spammers are cut out, everything grinds to a halt! tbh, im amazed that the site is still up. Are there any moderators left? what about guts, does he check on the site anymore? there are 1412 members (as at 2/12/11), and im sure that 90% of those are spammers, most of the loyal members have stopped signing on. imo, i think that the site is caught in a vicious cycle.
lack of new content = nothing to comment on
nothing to comment on = no reason to sign on
no reason to sign on = SIGNIFICANTLY reduced login rate
reduced login rate = lack of new content
also,
spammers gone = closed registrations
closed registrations = no new members
no new members = lack of new content
its obvious that something needs to be done to get the site back up and running. the registration on the sites domain name expires in november (no exact information when...), and there is no way that guts (or anyone else) would pay for a dormant website to stay online. we have a unique opportunity! WE KNOW when the website may close and WE KNOW what we can make a difference!
the way to get the site back up and running is simple...
regular members must make new content
if there is no reason to sign on, people wont. that is why we need to make new content. if other members see that there is an array of interesting content to read through, they should come back.
also, we should prepare for the worst. if the site is shut down, it would be nice for a record of it to be preserved. many other websites of similar genre have been preserved on other websites (not sure what they are called), and i think this should be investigated...
ok, that is my two cents, maybe this can be the start of the rebirth of bigguts...although of course, that is good thinking....

I agree with the words written by “doughboy’ above and ‘Ranch90” above. I find the situation troubling in a way, and with those two, now a little hope.
I am posting (to be quite honest, I don’t really like to) because I have tried to contact Administrator; and I do not know what to do now, because an error message came up indicating that I can not send my writing due to the Administrator’s ‘stored message quota being exceeded’.

Iggy, i tried to send guts (administrator) a message as well and i have got the same error message. It either means that he is getting a lot of mail, or he has abandoned the site. lets hope its not the latter...

Hi, sorry if this seems curt, but is there anything more that I can do? I did/do really want to write what I had for the administrator.

in regards to trying to contact the administrator, there is not really anything else that can be done...

Hi people - I've been completely away for the last week.
I get an email for each post/reply on the site, so I generally monitor from afar :)
Other methods of contact, until I clean out my pm box, is to report a post, or use the contact us link at the bottom of each page.

nice to hear from you, im sure everyone that has facebook could identify with the update emails :D one thing i was wondering was, are you able to allow some regular users to be moderators? it would help with running the site and keeping content "friendly"...

I was thinking about suggesting about appointing a new moderators, just thinking that Guts wouldnt want to keep paying for the site past Nov.

Yep, as Chronic says normally :)
Plus, someone in another timezone from me would be best ( you're just up the road from me mate :) ).
Additionally, the amount of activity right now doesn't particularly warrant new staff.
Having said that though, should situations change...
