Ok, i know this has absolutely nothing to do with gaining weight or anything, but i just wanna tell you guys that i am totally freaked out to drive anywhere now after last night, when i found out just how slick black ice really is.

i was driving home from a church activity, and realized that i had forgotten something. So, i turned around and started heading back to the church. On my way back, going through the subdivision, i took a corner just a little fast, and i started to slide. I tried to stop it by turning into it and everything, but it didnt help, and i took out a mailbox. I was so freaked out, and i still am.

So, im sitting there, in my car, thinking, "Oh God, that did NOT just happen!" I start my car again (it had died because it's a clutch, and i didnt push it in) and i back it up a little. I walk up and tell the guy, who, supprisingly, isn't really mad at all! We go out to look at it, and i was totally expecting my front right of my car to be smashed in because the post i hit wasn't a dinky little stick, but like solid metal! But it wasn't!! There was almost no damage to my car! I was shocked!

Unfortunately, i'll probably have to pay to replace the post :( If any of you wanna help, you can! lol ;)

I posted 3 pictures (Link is below) They are of the following
There is one picture of my car where it hit the mailbox... you have to look hard. The only damage my car sustained were the spots that aren't brown, but are instead whiteish.
The other two pictures are of the mail box post... out of this whole delema, that was the only thing that really sustained any damage.

Yeah, thats my story... sorry it was so off topic

By the way, you can look at pictures of my gut there too!! Let me know what you think of both.

We can discuss anything here, not just guts my friend :)

Yeah, that black ice stuff is pretty freaky stuff - don't get much in AU where I am, but on the higher hills, it pops up sometimes.

What's the guy doing with that letterbox so close to the road? As far as I know, it's supposed to be on the other side of the footpath.

I guess things are different here in the U.S. I do agree, though... it was really close to the road; but then again, all of them are here. It makes for a pretty bad situation when that darn ice pops up.

Luckily, there hasn't really been any so far tonight. That's a good thing!

Well, come to think of it, it's probably so close to the road because of the mail carriers... they drive, and can't really get out at each house... that's my view.

I think they put them that close to the road so if mail is delivered on a driven route, the mailman doesn't need to get out of his truck to get your mail in the box. It really doesn't look to be any closer to the road than my own box is. It's usually only done in rural areas, where homes are farther apart, but it is fast becoming the norm in suburbia as well. I don't think I'd be too upset either, if someone were to slide into my mailbox due to ice. It would obviously have been an accident. Kudos to you though for not just leaving, for going up and letting the guy know who it was who took out his mailbox. To me, that's the right thing to do. Too many others wouldn't have done so. Shows responsibility on your part.

Oh well, if it's a common thing over there, I'd recommend installing a mailbox on some sort of spring-loaded base :)

Mail deliveries over here are done of small motor bikes, where the delivery guy rides on the footpath. Everywhere is different I guess.

Well, I just thought that I would post an update. This has nothing to do with the mailbox though. In fact, it has to do with the other end of the car... on Tuesday, January 17, 2006, I got rear ended... (pause for effect)... I was so pizzed off!!!! It was rediculous! It happened after school, as I was driving home. The girl behind me was following VERY closely, and she had me worried from the begining. However, I continued on my merry way. When I get to a stop sign, the guy in front of me practicly slammed on his brakes, so what was I to do? I slammed on mine... and the moron behind me didn't. Needless to say, I was REALLY PISSED OFF!!! The two kids who were riding with me thought I had screwed up on the clutch, but I told them otherwise. I put on my emergency brake and got out to look at the damage. Then I glared at the girl who was driving. She just looked up at me like "let's let by gones be by gones." I was looking at her like, "you just hurt my car, now you are going to D-I-E!" So, I go around the corner and pull of to the side of the road and wait for her... which would have been fine... if she had stopped! She DROVE OFF!!! Now, this is the dumbness on my part, but I didn't get her liscence plate number. I got out and looked at my bumper. It wasn't too bad; just a couple of scratches and a little area where a corner of her liscence plate holder went through and left a hole. However, because of that hole, I might have to get the whole bumper replaced. I'm not completely screwed though... I got a discription of the car, and I know she goes to my school. And I've got two whitnesses.

In short, I feel soooo sorry for my poor car. It's been through so much abuse lately. And I really hope that idiot gets major fines for leaving the scene of an accident... which is a FELONY! Gurrrrrrr....

And another update... this one about weight...
I reached my 2005 year end goal of 250! Feels pretty good, but I've gotta work on my pants... my pants that I used to normally wear (36's) are wearable, but too tight for my liking, and I only have one pair of 38's. I do have a pair of kahkis that I wear that are 36, but they are loose...er. And I really can't ask my mom for 38's cuz she will go NUTS!

So, that's my update, and I hope you pity my car (JUST KIDDING!) and my pants (ALSO JUST KIDDING!)

If anyone can relate to this post, PLEASE REPLY!!! I'm SO bored right now!

Congrat to 250! You have to gain MORE and only then ask for new pants..

No, not for now... I've decided that I'd better back off for a while. I just wanted to get up to 250 really... anything bigger than that is too big for me, and in fact, I'm considering going back to around 200 lbs.

Now, one more thing that I forgot to mention in my update was this... and it has to do with the mailbox. They finally got it fixed, but I don't know how... I left my information, but they never called me, so I don't know if they paid for it or if the subdivision did, but.... either way, it's fixed.

But isn't that dangerous? Wouldn't they run over things, crash into cars, hit bushes...?

They have these little motorbikes here too... Yellow ones, I can run faster than them, so no it ain't that dangerous since everyone can run away from them:p
They just use them so the delivery guys don't have to walk and can get right at your front door... Without movin' their ass...
