Who else was severely disappointed through the whole movie!
so many scenes were unnecessary while other scenes which were crucial were altered or just taken out completely!
Also they added a whole extra scene to the movie, which actually ruins the seventh book then!

That doesn't give me high hopes then. I was planning on seeing it in two days but now I think I'll just wait for it to come out on dvd.

I haven't gone to the theater yet and It's been awhile since I read the book, but from the trailers I don't remember as much romance in the book as there was in the trailers. And did you all hear about them splitting the last book into two movies?

I did not like the movie. I had just re read HBP a week ago, and truly i was disappointed at how much they changes. How could they leave out Dumbledores funeral and the Battle at Hogwarts? Theyre kinda big things! And what about Dumbledores wand? It was supposed to be in his tomb!

How could they leave out Dumbledores funeral and the Battle at Hogwarts?
The screemwriter/director/overall general creative team thought that the funeral would not fit with the movie's pace and the battle of Hogwarts was left out because there is a bigger and better one coming in movie 8, so they cut out the one in 6 so as to avoid repetition...it worked in the books but wouldn't work in terms of movies...
And what about Dumbledores wand? It was supposed to be in his tomb!
Im sure they have something in store, they would not have shown harry touching it and showing that it is on Dumbledore's desk without reason...clearly they are hinting at something yet to come that we are unaware of.
Personally, I like changes, they keep me on my toes since I know how the book went. I quite liked the added scene at the burrow, but wish they had resolved it by showing what the weasleys did. I am assuming they just repaired it...

yea the burrow looked cool, and i was discussing with my friend and we both agreed it wouldve been better if they had resolved the scene

ya it was a bit odd... I mean you see the burrow completely in flames, and then it switches to them at school...no resolution what so ever... like... wtf? You'd think that Ron would have been a BIT upset that his family home was set on fire by death eaters.

well my favorite scene in the book, where the prime minister and the minister of magic both meet and discuss stuff.
I loved that scene in the book b/c it was really the only time magic and muggles were shown.
the burrow pissed me off b/c in the 7th book there is supposed to be a wedding there

Just got back from seeing it as it happens. Now, while I haven't read the book, I found the film to be very flat and it did seem rather lacking in content, just served as a build up to the final 2 films if anything IMO.
Still, enjoyable enough though

I remember thinking while I was reading it that book 6 wasn't the best one in the series, so I'm not THAT surprised that it didn't turn into a great film either. Nothing really happens that advances the plot, until the very end, so 2 and a half hours is about an hour too long imo.
The things that DID impress me about the movie are: the restraint used in special effects (there were only a couple of big effects scenes) and the improvement in Daniel Radcliffe's acting - he was much more convincing in this movie than any of the others for me.
But aside from that, that's kind of it. It's pretty forgettable.

It will in all probability still happen... The movies portray dumbledore cleaning up slughorn's home with one simple movement of his wand, so I think a whole family of wizards could tackle a somewhat crispy house

There was no Fluer, which also means there was no epic good vs. bad scene at the end.

I guess I'm alone on this one in saying I really enjoyed the film. I saw it opening night and it kept my attention throughout.

I have yet to see the 6th movie. I doubt I will. I gave up on them after the 3rd, compared to the books they are absolute trash.

I saw it at the midnight premiere, and I have to say it was OK except for the last half. Has anyone noticed the movies have more snappy wit than in the books? I laughed out loud quite a few times in the movie, but I don't remember any of that in the book. Especially since I re-read the book before seeing the movie...

Now, I disagree. While the movie lack the cool detail the book had, you still got the basic just of it. Plus, you have to consider the ways that today's youth in school and the problems they have to deal with.
It was a good movie. Much better than the G-Force crap that knocked off the box office charts.

I deliberately did not re-read the book before I went to see the movie, to better judge it on it's merits.
As a movie, it was actually pretty good. Kept a good pace. The story continued to happen, but they didn't just cut from one big scene to another (I HATED Goblet of Fire. Worst Potter Movie EVER!).
Granted, the movie was not the book. You have to know going in that the movie is going to be an INTERPRETATION of the book, not a COMPLETE RETELLING.
The acting was much better, the Quidditch looked much more realistic, and I LOVED how the Burrow looked on the inside this time, plus, THEY FIXED THE PENSIEVE THANK GOD!
Also, was I the only one to find Marcus Belby an attractive character? Especially the scene where he was shoveling down the ice cream? I was really sad to hear about what happened to that actor.
BTW, anyone looking for a laugh should check this out: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Fifteen Minutes (http://community.livejournal.com/m15m/20930.html).

I, myself, think the movie was great, but I don't like how it left off with a cliffhanger.

I liked the movie (and I loved all the books). I thought Ron (Rupert Grint) was getting pretty tall and kinda thick, too. Big legs...
