How do you guys develop ball bellies? The reason why I ask is beacuse as I grow up I would love a ball belly too! Any suggestions? Thanks! :D

I'm not sure if this is the secret or not, but I get all my extra calories by binging instead of steady nibbling.

I never lift weights, do aerobics only, and avoid water as I tend to retain it. Yet, here is the sphere!

I find that doing heavy squats helps build a ball belly. You end up with big stomach muscles with a big layer of fat over it.

Once you have an apron gut is it too late to achieve a ball belly?

My belly used to be sort of soft. Then I started doing crunches everyday and my belly is firming up into more of a ball. Its making a layer of muscle over my belly fat.

Don't close all old threads, some are quite nice to revive.
Especially this one, 'Ball bellies- how?' could lead to a nice discussion, or continue the discussion.

You also have to be lucky in the gene department, got mine from fathers side of family ! but definately gassy drinks like beer, pop, and eating after a night in the bar and going to bed with a full gut helps !

Like others said, that, some heavy weight lifting and genetics are what you need

Yeah, genetics is key. Plus, I think beer drinkers have more likelihood of developing ball bellies. Not that I'd recommend anyone start drinking!

True, mainly to do with the types of carbohydrate in beer combined with the fermentation. Though I have noticed that even though I drink beer regularly, my large ball is still nice and squishy.

Most ball bellies tend to grow on guys who were skinny as teens.

what is the actual definition of a ballbelly?

From what I would think, a belly that is large and very round, without any apron effect. A Belly that just sticks out in a big round, ball shape is how I would describe it in basic terms.

one more question... I can't do many things on this site. Is it because I'm new?

 - We have a well? And I am quite sure that the hello kitty on my belly will keep the girl occupied enough without eating any members.

I started as skinny--always had decent sized calves and did a lot of hiking--I used to be skinny because I barely ate anything--I'd sometimes forget to eat.
Of course, my belly is starting to change shape the heavier I get--it started as a ballbelly but it is starting to get some hang to it...

Maybe am I wrong, but I think drinking beer is very efficient to develop a ball belly (you can call it "beer belly", then).

It is great to hear that squats helps develop the ball belly look. I do enjoy lifting weights, and am glad I can keep that up while growing my BIG gut!

When I get a decent size ball belly, I'll stick to maintaining. I don't want an overly hanging gut - that's just me.

Yeah you need to work on your muscles to help with a ball belly. If you just let it go flabby and not have muscle behind it then it wont grow into a ball belly.

I drink beer daily and I often lift weight for about 2 years. my belly began to grow at this moment. Sure, i am quite a beginner compared to some of great guys found here. Moreover, i am not sure this is the only solution...

Crunches-Do the opposite of what they tell you to do for a 'six-pack' - for upper abs, I use a Nautilus-type crunch machine with heavy weight, low reps and limited range of motion, then hanging leg lifts with ankle weignts for the lower abs

Whoever knew that weighlifting could build bellies? Interesting.

I heard you were supposed to do crunches and or sit-ups.

Hey I can relate to that! Ultrathin as a teen, decided to grow out. Seemed to sag a lot until I was about 210. The next 10 lb went all to the upper belly. Now have a big ball belly. Have now decided to see what another 10 lb will do to the shape...
