This is for the gay people here, I thought it'd be fun to list some of the things that are considered 'gay' that you do, or things that you do that make people think you're gay.
I'll go first.
1. I know the words to almost every Shania Twain song.
2. I love shopping
3. I love fashion and sewing
4. I'm a sucker for chick flicks
5. People often think I'm a girl on the phone.
6. Occasionally I do have limp wrists.

"Cooking isn't gay, baking is"
I agree, and I can't bake unfortunatly.
"Not only can we make giant kids, we might actually enjoy hanging out together! <3"
Lol, mos def.
Now, I don't want to sound like a complete flamer, I still have a manly side of me...
I love guns and want to join the NRA
I love to man the BBQ and eat lots of meat and more meat
I drive a Chevy Truck
I'm addicted to coffee and drink it black
So I can be the All American boy too.
Bro, you gotta learn to use the "quote" buttons. The big button that say's quote takes you to a reply screen with just that post and the "+ button does multiple quotes when you click those and then "post reply". If you want to use the quick reply box then click the quick reply button to the far right of the message you wish to quote and click the box marked "quote message in reply?".

Shopping
Talking alot/gossiping
The tounge click thing
I hate sports (even though I played football in high school and was first string defensive end)
I somewhat agree with you here. I don't really like most all sports, although I did play soccer all through highschool. I actually somewhat enjoyed that, but there aren't really any other sports I can think of that I like.

Believe it or not, but that is about 90% of all gay men and women. They look just like heterosexuals on the outside, just like other men instead of women.

In certain situations I try to act 'straight'. When I'm myself though I think it shows.
I remember a year ago a classmate said that if his son turned out gay he'd kill it. That really annoys me when people say things like that.

But if you go to the craft store and tell another woman she's got her fake flower colors all wrong...THAT's gay!

Some of the gayest things I do?
Let's see:
I kiss guys.
I perv over guys.
I enjoy fooling around in the bedroom, with guys.
That's about the gayest kind of stuff I do, I guess.

Agreed, in that respect, and to the person who said people don't realize 90% of gay people are gay. That's totally true. Many show no signs whatsoever, unless one has contact with their personal life. The overwhelming majority I would say show some small signs, but are only really noticed when one looks for them. Only a small portion of gays fit the commonly espoused stereotype.
As for me...
-I talk with my hands a bit too much (at least thats what other people say)
-I friggen love to shop. The more to buy, the merrier.
-I am extremely succeptible to cute and/or adorable things and unabashedly say so out loud.

I enjoyed Mamma Mia. Apparently thats pretty gay.

For me, I'd say:
-I like purple and other bright colors.
-I like baking (the more overly complicated the better).
-I like musicals.
-I talk with my hands a lot.
-I have like... one straight male friend.
-I enjoy decorating/matching colors of things.
Other than that I don't really like shopping unless it's for nerdy things like games. I don't really like a lot of pop-ish music (at least not in English). I don't use words like "girlfriend". I generally don't care about my clothes unless I'm going out. Things of this nature I generally don't do.
Oboeplayer91
5th January 2009, 01:46 AM
That's pretty similar for me as well. Most of my friends at school are girls, my best friend is a girl, and I have very few straight guy friends. Do any others have situations like that?
Fat Nat
5th January 2009, 12:07 PM
I'd never really thought about it before but offline I only really have a couple of good female friends and very few gay friends (though I'd like to change that). Most of my friends are straight guys!
dafatman
6th January 2009, 10:35 AM
That's funny, a year or two ago, all I had were straight friends, guys or girls. Now, I have at least two fraternity brothers that are gay, and I belong to the BLGTA, so my gay-to-straight ratio has exploded, lol.

Drag.
So, what. Did I just win the thread. Or can anyone trump that?
bleu
9th January 2009, 06:28 PM
Lol, be careful about thinking you will 'win' a thread. I thought I had won the bench press thread, then realized a bunch of people had better than me.
Ha, I'll keep that in mind. I was just a trifle nunplussed that it took until me for someone to say drag. Maybe that's not so big with this crowd.
We need a competition to see who the gayest in all the land is.
A competition where even if you win, you lose. :p

Nah, that's the most homosexual thing you could do. This is a thread about the GAYEST things you do. You may be surprised but the two are fairly different, in my opinion.

Firstly, Moved to Off Topic.

Don't take this the wrong way guys not that I like to rain on anyones parade, but just my opinion and something that ticks me off quite a bit.
The two technically SHOULDNT be different, but because the gay stereotype seems to be hammered into anyone that is gay it means it generally isn't.
I've honestly never seen another minority group who seems to conform to what is a generally negative stereotype.
I could just imagine all the anger that would brew for instance if someone created a thread titled "what are the most straight things you do?".
Big_fat_kiddo
9th January 2009, 07:23 PM
Agreed,
So first read this: Gay-Homosexual (Wikipedia) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay) Before even trying to create a line between the two.
FatMike
9th January 2009, 07:28 PM
No wrong way taken, FatMike. And I think you are right. It is def. true w/ me. I like to purposley play to the stereotype a lot, cause I think it is fun, but if I didn't do it on purpose, no one would ever know I was bi. One problem, at least for me, bieng bi, is like two completely different sides. One, is the straight side, that wants to get married and have children and be an alpha male. Then the other side wants to be really gay. It is really conflicting and hard to balance lol.
I can totally relate to that too.. and nothing wrong with a bit of fun either. :p

I'm only upset that a comment I made ticked off another member (not just a member, either: a moderator) and that I unintentially opened a can of worms. All in my first day, no less! Yeah, I'm kind of marvelous like that.
Anyway, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Scout's honor. I can see your point, though I like most of the gay stereotypes, provided it's not taken to an obnoxious level. It's not necessarily a negative thing in my eyes. But we all differ and I'm certainly not looking to start a debate on the subject!
I could just imagine all the anger that would brew for instance if someone created a thread titled "what are the most straight things you do?".

Nothing wrong with a good old can of worms.
I can agree with the stuff about the homosexual-gay divide.
I'm fairly homosexual (I'll spare you the details), but I really don't like the gay stereotype.
Oboeplayer91
10th January 2009, 04:47 AM
Oh dear. Please people, I did NOT mean to offend anyone at all by starting this thread. It's just for fun, not to offend anyone. I am gay, and I'm open about it. There can be negative stereotypes, but most people just happen to do things that fall into one.
Personally I wouldn't mind have a Straightest things you do thread.
Anyways . . .
1. I don't consider myself drag, but sometimes I do enjoy wearing men's skirts.
And here's my straight stereotype things:
1. I very much enjoy monster trucks, racing, and the drag strip.
Hmm, I'm sure there's others that I just can't think of right now.

Howabout:
1. Wearing a patchwork gold and black leggings and silver vinyl shape piece along with a ratted blonde wig that stuck out of the top of the head; I won 1st place at a voguing ball.
2. Being late for school four days in a row because I was getting a blowjob or giving one, or having sex.
3. I know more mariah and whitney houston songs than anyone else I know.
4. My mother made a bet I was gay when I was six years old.

Haha, for the most part I fail at "gay" things. No interest in broadway, can't stand Madonna (or any other pop superstar for that matter), enjoy mostly action movies...ah, the list goes on.
I am getting progressively more "stylish" though, thanks to a GQ subscription. I even enjoy the shopping part, but that's really because it only takes me about half an hour to find everything I need. Once I get past the 45 minute mark, I start wanting to die lol.

I can't stand Madonna.
Not a fan of musical theater.
I don't have a goatee.
I don't have a bear-paw tattoo.
I am not skinny or twinky.
Decorating bores me.
So does clothes shopping.
I don't disco dance
I don't pluck, tweeze or trim my body hair
I don't belong to gay.com or adam4adam
No rainbow things around the house.
Never done drag.
I have a masculine bearing and diction.
I know Ohm's law and how to solder.
I own a toolbox full of tools (pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.)
I must not be gay, then.
I'll turn in my membership card in the morning.

Actually, I know Ohm's law, how to solder, how to change a tire, I understand how to play sports, Don't belong to gay.com or adam4adam, and I usually pass as straight, unless I decide to "queen it up." the point of this thread is to play with the stereotypes.
