It starts out a little slow, but it is simply laying the ground work for the rest of the story. It will pick up...
Jimmy was on the track team and swim team. He was thin and athletic, with well defined abs, and muscular pecs. But something didn't feel right. His true passion was cooking, and he enjoyed eating his creations. He had starved himself to stay light, and quick, and he hated it. He liked swimming and track, hanging with his friends, and winning, but he didn't like starving himself.
It was late May, nearing the end of the school year, and Track season was in full swing. Jimmy was doing well, better than most of the team. He was getting first places, when the rest were getting seconds and thirds. He was the reason the relay team was winning. Yet his coach was always on his back. Always telling him, "Now Jimmy, you can do better than that," or, "Jimmy, to slow, take another lap." If Jimmy so much as gained a pound of fat, the coach would be all over him, saying things like, "Hey Jimmy, your looking kinda slow, how about you lay off the donuts," or, "Jimmy, I think your going to need to stay a little longer, burn of some of that gut your getting." The coach was never as hard on the other kids, and they were the ones that needed it. Jimmy was starting to think about quiting track. The final straw, was after the last track meet. Jimmy had done a great job, but it wasn't enough to get to state. The rest of the team had don it's average job. Once the meet was over, the track coach pulled aside the two worst members of the team, and Jimmy. He told told them that he wanted them to do extra practices over the summer. Jimmy was not happy at all, now he was being lumped in with the slowest runners on the team, and being asked to give up his summer time. He decided then and there, that he wasn't going to do track, or swimming any more, he just wasn't going to show up at those practices anymore, and that was it.
Towards the end of the school year, Jimmy was eager for the summer to begin. This would finally be a summer he could enjoy, now that he had decided that he wasn't going to care about sports anymore. He had bough a new cook book, with some fancy recipes that sound good, and planned on just relaxing all summer, cooking and hanging with some friends. Since his last track meet, he had been avoiding his girlfriend, Liz, because she was on the track team too, and would be upset if she knew he was going to be quiting. He had already decided to break it off with her, because she reminded him too much of track, but he didn't want to hurt her, so he kept putting it off, finaly, she found him alone. He was in the library after school, looking for a book for one of his end of the year reports, when she cornered him in the 20th centry history section. He couldn't run away, so he decided, this would be the time to do it.
"Jimmy, where have you been lately?" she asked.
"Around," he said, as if he was only half listening to what she was saying, and more interested in the old books in front of him.
"I've called, texted and e-mailed you like a 100 times, and you haven't replied. I've tried to talk to you here at school, but you always seem to be running off somewhere."
"Yeah," Jimmy said with a nervous chuckle. "I've been really busy with the end of the year coming up, finals and all."
"I know what you mean, I've been busy too. I'm glad I ran into you though, I wanted to talk to you about your plans for the summer, I though maybe you an I could train together."
This was it, Jimmy was finally going to break it off. He didn't really know what to say, he had really avoided thinking about the subject, until now. "Well, I want to talk to you about that, Liz. Um, I've been thinking about things, about you and me, and I really don't think things are working out," he said finally, trying to hide his sigh of relief at the end, that he had finnaly said it.
"What?" Liz said, a little confused. "I though things were going so good. What's changed?"
"I've changed," Jimmy said. "I just don't see us having a future together, what you want, isn't really what I want anymore." Jimmy was feeling really awkward now. Luckily the bell rang. "Look, Liz, I've got to get to class," he said, not even bothering to get his book, rushing out of the library, glad to be out of that situation.
It was the last day of school, at lunch, when Brittany, approached Jimmy. Jimmy was having a rather large lunch, because he was hungry, and he didn't have to worry about his weight as much anymore. The last few weeks however, had been very active for Jimmy, and he really hadn't gained any weight since track ended. Brittany was very popular at school. She was smart, athletic, beautiful, most guys would love to go out with her. Jimmy was a little surprised when he looked up from his pizza to see Brittany sitting across the lunch table from him. "Hey, Jimmy," she said.
"Hey," Jimmy said, as he slowed his pace of eating, so he could talk.
"You look really hungry," she said, looking down at the table before him, where one and a half pieces of pizza remained, of the four he had purchased.
"Yeah, I am," he said.
"Well, here, I ordered too much, why don't you take it," she said. Jimmy hadn't noticed the two slices of Pizza Brittany had brought with here when she sat down.
"Sure, thanks," Jimmy said.
Brittany sat and watched as Jimmy downed his last two slices of pizza, and then hers. It was so hot. "Hey, Jimmy, I heard you and Liz broke up," she said.
"Yeah, I just wasn't into her anymore, I don't know why."
"You wanna hang out Saturday?" she asked.
Jimmy was surprised, he really didn't know Brittany well, they had barely talked before this, but apparently she liked him, and she was hot. "Sure, sounds like fun."
"Okay, why don't you come over to my house, around 1 in the afternoon," she said, as she scribbled down here cellphone number on a piece of paper. "If your plans, change just call me," she said, with a smile, before walking off to talk with some of her friends. Jimmy was feeling good, he had managed to break it off with Liz, and already he had girls wanting to hang with him. Also, for the first time in a while, he stomach was satisfied, he wasn't hungry anymore.
Jimmy was so excited after school, the school year was finally over, and now he had three months of summer to just relax and not worry about things like track or school. He went over to one of his friends house after school, and played Call of Duty 4 all afternoon. When he got home at six, he was feeling kind of hungry, his mom worked late, and didn't get home till, 10, and his dad lived in Tampa, so he was used to making his own dinner. Normally he just had a sandwich or something, but to night he was feeling hungry again, and after lunch he had felt so good, he decided to cook up some Pasta Roni, without thinking, he used whole milk, and real butter, because it tasted better. He finished the whole pan of Pasta Roni, which the box said served two. After dinner he was feeling sleepy so he went of to bed. Tomorrow, he would start his summer of relaxation, and the first step, would be taking some money his mom had left out for him, and going down to the grocery store to get some things to try some of the recipes out of the new cookbook he had purchased.
The next morning, Jimmy woke up, his mom had left on a business trip, she was hardly ever round, there was three hundred dollars on the table, to cover Jimmy for the week she would be gone. That was a lot of money, but Jimmy's mom always left that kind of money around for him when she went on trips, that was how he got his new Xbox 360, nice cellphone, and new laptop. Today, though this money would be going to the grocery store. It was Friday morning, and after a breakfast of French Toast and bacon Jimmy made himself, he walked to the grocery store. He picked up ingredients for the recipes in the book he wanted to make, generally going for taste over fat or calorie content, when options were available, such as the choice between 1%, 2% or whole milk, he would chose whole milk, because it had a better taste. After the shopping was done, he returned home, and made himself lunch. He decided to have grilled cheese. He took two slices of bread out of the package, slathered them with butter, placed three slices of American cheese between them, and cooked it in a frying pan on the stove. After he finished the first one, he was still hungry, so he made him self a second. He also had half a bag of potato chips. He was a little surprised with how hungry he had been, but was satisfied by that feeling of no longer being hungry. After lunch, he watched a movie on TV. It was one of those old WWII movies on AMC. Then he watched a second movie, by now, he was starting to feel a little hungry, so he made some microwave popcorn, the kind with extra butter, because he liked buttery popcorn. The second movie was a sports comedy about some little league team that had no chance, but wins big in the end because they have heart. After that, he went over to a friends house to play Rockband. While there he drank a ton of Coka-Cola. He stayed over there till 11 pm. Once home, he realized he hadn't had any dinner, and his stomach was rumbling. He decided to try something from his cookbook, and settled on a Monte Cristo sandwich, consisting of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese on bread, which after assembled, is dipped in batter, and deep fried. He quite enjoyed the sandwich, and finished the whole thing, and the French fries he made to go with it. When he was finished though, he was quite tired, and went right to bed.
After his late night, Jimmy didn't get up until 11am, on Saturday morning, just two hours before he was supposed to go over to Brittany's. He took a quick shower, and got ready to go over, but before he did, he wanted to try another recipe from the cookbook. It was a chicken and pasta dish, with a nice Parmesan sauce. The recipe however was for two, and Jimmy didn't want to take the time to calculate how much the ingredients he would need for one would be, so he just made it to the recipe. He finished the whole thing, his appetite finally being satisfied on a regular basis after so much time starving himself.
Brittany lived just down the street from Jimmy, so it was a short walk. When he arrived, he was surprised to find that it would just be him and Brittany, as her parents were also away for the weekend, and he was the only friend she was having over. She quickly invited him in, and lead him into the living room. It was quite hot outside for mid-June, but it was much hotter in Brittany's living room, as Brittany had turned the heat up to 85 degrees a few hours before Jimmy came over. She sat Jimmy down on the couch and sat down next to him. "So, Jimmy, you glad to be out of school?" she asked.
"Yeah," he said, he was feeling rather hot. "It's kind of hot in here isn't it?" he asked.
"Not really," she replied. "But if your hot, I'll get you a nice cold drink," she said.
"I think I would like that," he replied, as he was starting to sweet.
Brittany went into the kitchen, and pulled a pitcher of premade milkshake, made with whole milk and ice cream the from the refrigerator. She had made it the night before, in preparation. She filled a tall glass with it, and returned to the living room, where Jimmy was now visibly sweeting, allot. "Here you go," Brittany said, handing him the gainer shake. Jimmy was so hot, that any cool liquid was acceptable, he didn't really notice what it was until the taste of the delicious shake. "This is good," he said. Still a little hot.
"Thank you, I made it myself," she told him, watching him sweet.
Jimmy couldn't take the heat much more, he didn't want to be rude, but the heat was becoming too much. "I'm really hot, you wouldn't mind, if I, uh, took my shirt off to try and cool down, would you?" he asked.
Brittany tried to conceal her smile. Finally, she would get to take a look at what she was working with. "I don't mind," she said.
He stood up, and pulled the shirt off of his sweat soaked muscular body, but all Brittany saw was the potential, what could be, what would be, a nice big belly.
