I was just curious of how many of you were influenced to gain by your dad having a large gut? I can answer that i wasn't since my dad is not nearly half my size.
I was also wondering if you (having a big gut) have ever found the need/want to rub your belly just because you had it? I can answer that i have but there isn't all that much to rub anyways.

My mom's boyfriend has a big belly but I was already gaining but I convinced him to gain 30lbs to make it an even 300lbs.
I don't have a big belly to rub...............yet ;)

My dad is pushing 400# so I have a lot to live up to. I find myself rubbing my belly without even realizing I was doing it. I funny how many of my friends pat my belly now when saying hello or good-bye. Lest to say, I love it.

Well... my parents are both skinny..
mom: 58kg
dad: 61kg
me:57kg
So there isnt much to rub, and nothing that got me to gaining..

Sometimes... just for the fun of it. However, if we go to a buffett, I usually go to the bathroom and rub it a little bit so I can stuff more in... works GREAT! I did that this Sunday and was able to eat a couple more plates after I started feeling full. I was so full after that, I could hardly sit straight up... sadly, I couldn't take pictures, because we had family in town for a funeral.

My dad didn't actually give me any inspiration for this, although he is a little butterball at about 270lbs. What actually got me thinking about doing it was an incident I had while in junior high school working at a local Wendy's. This really fat trucker came in while I was working the front register. His gut was so big that he lifted it up and set it on the counter so he could lean against that counter a little easier. That's what got me thinking about getting fat. It took me a while to actually get started, but here I am. And I do enjoy a good rub every now and then. It's kind of funny how many people actually touch your gut once you've got one.

No, my dad didn't inspire me either, although he is about 130kg (a little less than 280lbs I think), and they are really fat on my dad's side, my uncles are all about 150kg (about 330-340lbs I think) and have these huge ball bellies. On my mom's side's no one is really that fat, neither is my mom:p
I sort of found these communities on the web and that got me gaining, but I'm not right now though...

Nope. My dad is about 90kg (200lb) with no gut really. No relatives really have a gut, and I chose myself to gain based on my own body already so theres no relavance or influence within family.

none of my relatives are too fat, they're all average for their age but my young relatives all have 6-packs and stuff so i'd say they probably didn't influence me

Nobody in my entire family is over 150lb, I actually weigh more then my parents.
Mom: 120lb
Dad: 125lb
Me: 130lb
So there is nobody in my family that got me started. I just was too thin, being teasted because of it "oh you probably break easily". I got sick of that, and some of my friends where a lot bigger then me, and I gues I just looked up on them. I can't just really say what indeed pulled the trigger that got me to gain.

My dad was kinda like an influence. he has this belly that when he sits, it rests in his lap (it's sorta like a combo of a ball gut and a pure fat gut).

My dad was and still is big, with a huge ball gut. When he lounges around in the house, very often he'll pat or rub it. Other times it will just push his shirt up. So I guess he was kinda my inspiration, that and all the great gainers I've come to see.

My family is full of fatties. I am actually extremely skinny compared to them all. My dad is 5'6" and about 200 pounds, but he used to weigh a lot more. My brother is 5'7" and goes back and forth between about 200 and 220. But the extended family is really huge. My grandpa had a massive beer gut. Most of my relatives were relatively normal to heavy growing up, but then hit adulthood and really blew up. But my grandpa is probably my inspiration.

For me it was my uncle, he has a big ball belly and is obsessive about it being hard, he clenches his gut muscles regularly to keep it that way. He weighs about #370 and has an absolutely perfect ball. He can eat and drink plent too. Its awesome. I don't think I'll ever be that size, but a smaller version would be a dream for me. :)

My dad died when I was 4, so he wasn't an influence, and I never really got to know many people from other parts of my family. I think one of the people that influenced me the most was my neighbor when growing up--he was about 5'10" and 280-300, hairy, trashy type of guy, he'd mow the lawn in a pair of bikini underwear.

My Dad had a big man gut. And growing up I was always attracted to men with big guts. As I grew up and got older I started my own. Now I love it and love to show it off. I can see guys looking at it with admiration. Love to have it rubbed by another guy too.

My whole family are slim and fit apart from me - I first looked at another guy's sagging ball belly and thought I want one of them was when I was at school. One afternoon I came into the locker-room early from playing football and found our huge (ball-bellied) janitor jerking off one of my teachers. I thought it looked cool and got me one (a belly) of my own.

Chubby and hairy people have always been my inspiration. Especially when they wear tight clothes and they either have to pull up their shirts to rub their bellys or unbutton their shirts to be in a comfortable state. AT times when you're walking down the aisles at Costco during the summer, a lot of hairy belly men do these to maintain their bodies cool from all that warmth accumulated internally in theri bodies.

Ummm, Well, my dad is fat but not in any way I want to be fat, he's like muscualr and fat with no pudge, just a hard, odd shaped gut... I dunno. So he's always been an inspiration to make me do more ab work (helps get rid of hard fat, keeps the soft) but on my moms side all the guys are like, not even chubby, but they have eanough pudge to cover up muscle definition and ribs and stuff. All the women seem to be either really skinny or old and, not really fat just "Old Person Stolky" I dunno..

I'm wondering about my dad. I just found out that my mom has been encouraging him to work out (he has breathing problems). He has always been chubby, but now he's gotten even fatter. He has also been ignoring my mom's pleads to loose weight and just bought a bunch of XL shirts. I have no idea what's going on there, if he's unintentionally fatter, or if he's a gainer. I guess I'll figure it out when I see him after school's out, when I get to see his progress and all.

Could you expand on this? Are you refering to the Edipus Rex theory (and the Electra Rex theory even though Freud did not approve of it)? Because if I remember correctly, I learned childhood development months ago, that usually happens at a younger stage of psychological development... Unless you mean that kids may only want to gain because their parent of the same sex is overweight.

Well I find it interesting that for the most part gaining is a fetish, after all the gaining of fat is largely has a sexual connection. And then everyone is bring up their dad's as a role model. I just figured it was interesting, I mean admiring your fathers weight gain, because you desire to gain for sexual reasons.

My dad is huge. He has a more of a large apron, but i didn't grow up with him so i never was influenced by him. I found out that i like to gain on my own. I play with my belly all the time, i see other big guys do it all the time, i thinks its just natural.

Freud was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread. My father is just kind of medium-sized, and for that matter I'm larger than any of my close relatives at this point. However, there is a great-aunt of mine who I see not even once a year who is absolutely enormous, and whenever I see her it's something of an inspiration.

my dad was never really too fat, but i did have an enormous uncle that i always looked up to. And one of my great uncles was absoluelty huge too. At the time, his belly seemed like the biggest i had ever seen. He must have weighed over 400 at the time.

I was always chubby as a kid (unintentionaly). My grandpa and uncle on my dad's side were always big (around 220) and my mom's side is mostly fat people. My uncle was my biggest influence. I stayed at his house whenever I could (usually 2X per week) because he would always take me to buffets and I loved eating with him until we were both so full we couldn't move. We would sit an talk for about an hour and then stuff ourselves some more. My dad didn't start gaining any weight untill about March of 2005. So yeah, when I turned about 16, I decided, "Hell, I'm already fat, let's roll with it."

Compared to some of the others on this thread, I guess I got pretty lucky in the inspiration department. Both of my parents are overweight, but they are nothing compared to the rest of my mother's family. There are alot of HUGE guys in our family. 80% of my uncles are obese, most of them ranging between 300-400 lbs. They are part of my inspiration, especially one of my uncles, who is around 550, with a huge apron gut that hangs to his knees when he stands, and it hits the floor when he sits. About a year ago, I realized how obese my family was, so I figured, why fight it? I love being fat, so why try to be skinny. Now I have two male cousins I'm close to, and I'm seeing which one of us will get the fattest.

My father wasn't a positive influence.. he always told me how small and puny I was compared to him.. (he used to lift weights and stuff like that, but I guess he kinda let himself go.. haha..) so I guess it gave me the drive to prove 'im wrong.. even though I, myself, don't want to be 220.. hehe..

My dad was a swimmer and was sort of uninvolved in my life which makes me think that's why I'm gay. I STRIVE FOR THE ATTENTION OF MEN TO FILL THE VOID THAT MY FATHER LEFT! Or that's what my therapist said. Ha ha, kidding...About the therapist part at least. The rest is my own conjecture and exaggerated babble.
My dad is a swimmer, he's fairly thin. My mother is overweight, my sister got gastric bypass, and my other sister was a little thicker. I have no idea what my half brother looks like, he's like 37 or 38 now...
I inherited my father's metabolism... And as long as I can remember I've always had encourager tendencies, deliberately trying to mess up people's diets. Such as managing to make it sound like they aren't that overweight. Any male friend of mine tends to put on weight if they hang out with me enough... Oh the joys of being a videogame geek and just pulling people into it...

Growing up my dad was always thin. I was the butterball of the family. In June I when home for a week. My dad since retired my stepmom always has sweets in the house. To my surprise when he picked me up at the airport I noticed a very nice belly on him. One night at dinner we were talking and he made a comment on how much I ate. I told him I wanted a gut like his LOL. He came back with you need to work on it. Wait till I go home again :)
