This is one of my favourite recipes, which the good woman often makes for me :)
1.5 Kg (3.3 lbs) of beef (minced/ground)
4-5 large potatos, peeled & cubed
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 medium tomatos, chopped
2 medium carrots, thinly sliced
2 medium mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon oil
Preheat the oven to about 180c/350f.
Boil the potatos under tender, mash with butter & milk until smooth.
Brown the beef, onion, garlic & carrot for around 10 minutes with oil in a heavy fry pan, mixing constantly. Mix in the mushroom & tomato just before the meat is cooked.
Evenly place the contents of fry pan into a baking dish, followed by the mash potato on top, and put into the oven for around 30-35 minutes.
Put some grated mozzeralla cheese on top of the mash, and bake for another 10-15 minutes.
It's great on its own, or served with anything, and very filling!!
