OK guys. This is really embarrassing but I'll tell you anyway.

I've read through all the existing Order of the Stick webcomics, and it makes me want to play D&D again. Like, online, like I used to when I was a kid on WebRPG.

Shameful, I know.

That is all.

Playing D&D is fun, though! I played it just this weekend been. Epic fantasy roleplaying :3

Note that D&D is NOT a videogame, before people start chiming about MMOs, because D&D predates them and it requires about 5 people, sitting round a table and having fun. No computers at all, honest! (apart from when you got noone around - online is an adequete substitute)

Anyway, BMP, roleplaying online is pretty easy. You even have the rules laid out for you (http://d20srd.org) and the Order of the Stick website forums have a roleplaying (play-by-post) section. Play 3.5e, though - 3e is horrible and it's much smoother than 2e.

I'd play, but I don't like risking my entire social life. :<

What part of "playing round a table with your friends" doesn't anyone understand? D&D is supposed to be a social activity! o_O

Go find people in your area to hang out with and play it with them ;) It's not that hard!

Why do people assume just because it's a roleplaying game it means you sacrifice your social life? I mean, what? You're having fun with other people - is that not social?

Honestly.

my social life isn't affected...:3

Yes, but THOSE "other people" would disable your social life, and have problems socialising out of RolePlaying or other nerd activities.

Yeah. Just standing next to them would, like, reduce my coolness by a factor of 2d8 (pending saving throw against charisma.) I'm going to go put hit dice into my prestige class: stuffy academic now.

that last part doesn't make sense, because I'm babbling terms I learned from OotS.

Also, it looks like Raain's social life may be more affected than he thinks: The furry smile has infected him. ;)

"Roleplaying or other nerd activities"? You mean, like:

- Card games (traditional 52/4 suit)
- Watching a movie together
- Going out for a meal / down to the pub for a drink
- Playing videogames with each other (like the Wii Warioware! Fun!)
- Walking round town, chatting
- Going to Lazer Tag. (I shoot you with lazors! Pew pew)

Oh, sorry, I didn't realise all people who played roleplaying games weren't hopeless shut ins. Once again, the stereotype preceeds the reality.

And what social things do normal people do, anyway, that people that play roleplaying games don't?

Have sex. Ever.

Have sex. Ever.

Then how come loads of players that I've seen are married, with kids?

Then how come the DM I played D&D with last was my sister's boyfriend? (They play a LOAD of other roleplaying games too - like World of Darkness, and this Mutant Ninja Turtles one ;) )

You're clutching at straws! 30 year old straws! Mwahaha! Besides, I said social things. Sex is something different than having a social life. It's called a "love life".

Haha! :P

But it's the internet. It gives a -4 circumstance penalty on Sense Motive checks to detect jokes. That, and for all the ranks in Perform (pedantry) I have, I never got round to putting ranks in Spot or Sense Motive anyway. Wisdom is my dump stat! It's bad min-maxing to try and patch it up!

:D
