It's finally time for me to get my class ring and I've narrowed it down to two styles.

This one, $275 Good: doesn't look like a high school ring, I wear a lot of rings like this one. Bad: stone looks like one from a bubblegum machine, I wear a lot of rings like this one.

Or this one, $203. Good: I can put a Yugoslavian flag on the side, it has both silver [not real silver] and gold [not real gold]. Bad: Looks obviously like a highschool ring.

Both obviously look like a high school ring. However, seeming as you are buying your high school ring, that would not seem like as much of a detriment as you suspect.

The first style is waaaaaaaaaaay classier, however.

Agreed, Rings with clutter and writing all over the place almost cheapen it.
The first one is great, but yeah.. the stone colouring is not so good.

They only have birthstone colours.

I was thinking about getting the fake topaz [a goldish coloured stone] but I know I'd be getting asked, "WOW UR BIRTDAI IZ IN NOVUMBIR!!!?? MIAN IZ 2!"

I don't think that's ever happened. Besides, at least you'd be getting hit on by scorpios.

What in the name of the lord is a high school ring?

Sounds as bad as having a 'prom'

Sounds as bad as having a 'prom'I was thinking the same thing - mind you.. my highschool had a dance, but it was called the "debutante ball" and was held for second last year highschool attendees, rather than final year..

I have a university graduation ring - but only cuz my parents insisted on buying it for me. At least, I think I have it... haven't worn it in years but it must be around somewhere. At least it was gold, but it still had one of those cheesy-looking stones in it.

I never heard of my high school having rings - and it was one of the foremost public high schools in the city. Maybe they had a prom - I wouldn't know and would stay away anyway cuz going only would have forced me to explain why I wasn't dancing with girls!!!

Stupid proms, dances and high-school festivals.
All cheap, fake and never fun to go to.. I choose the places where I go out carefully.

Thank god I graduated 2 years ago.

Since my high school is this old private school (a little haughty too lol) that has been around since the 1800's, we have all of the possible graduation rings and dances. I think I'll get a ring when I leave, just because I've seen them on alumni, and they're actually not bad. :p Uggh, the dances at my school are made into such a big deal, and, to be honest, it's so unnecessary. Well myabe i feel this way because I've only been to like one out of fifty lol. I always feel so weird when I get pressured into dancing with lots of girls lol (well no one knows the truth, so i guess it's understandable). I will be going to more of them in Grades 11 and 12, however, because they have special ones only for those grades (including the prom, which was last Saturday). hehe If I'm out and pretty secure, I hope I can take a guy to the prom--I'm sure I'll be the first guy in the history of the school! :D yay lol

Ohh okay now to answer the real topic question of this thread--WTFOMG :P, I think you should go for the first ring. I feel like the design is more sophisticated. It looks more elegant than the first to me, just because of less clutter. I've also seen your pic, the one with your hand showing a couple of your awesome rings :D, and I think it would look better in the collection lol (but you must have more than just two, right?). But I'm just one opinion lol. Ohh and about the gem looking like it's from a bubblegum machine--would it look any better in different lighting? (Mainly I'm asking if you've seen it and held it in your hand, or have you just looked at it online or in those pics?) I just thought that might be a factor lol.

Well I really wanted to make a long post, so thanks for not having a limit to the word count hahaha...P.S. I like both rings really, and i think either would be a good choice...they're much better than some others I've seen (Bleh!) lol.

I've seen that stone in person and even my mom agreed it looked like something from a bubblegum machine. That ring is really pretty but that would kind of be negated since [a] it would be rediculously expensive to get in even 10kt white gold thus [b] making it worth buying another stone to be put in the ring.

I wish I could get both, but I don't have that kind of money XD

Here's my class ring. I'm sorry about the lack of quality. My digital camera sucks. :(

The top is a blue stone, I forgot the name of it. On the stone it has my school Initials of SHS. The left side of the stone says 20, and the right side says 07. Further left is my first name, and an icon with a torch, an atom, a leaf, a diploma that is rolled up and says pride, and on the right it has the general education icon, with another rolled diploma, and 2 of my school's 3 colours. Blue and red, in a shield, divided on a diagonal. My school's colours were red, white, and blue. And above the general education icon, it says Eagles. What a patriotic school.

Yea. That's like the guy's version of the one ring I want. I found out I can get it without the stuff in the middle, and it would look like this...

I'd still have the Yugoslavian flag on one side, the Libra symbol on the other, my initials, and the yeardate, but no school crest.

I didn't really like that kind of ring until I saw one IRL and I thought it looked nice. Not that exact one, but some similar style, in gold with a red stone.

I'd go for the second one, becuase that's the style I got, but mine's real gold (I'm allergic to nickel, so I couldn't get the cheapo metals) and I've got the alexandrite in mine.

But whatever, get whichever one you think looks best. :D
