I LOVE BROADWAY. It is one of my greatest passions. One day I hope to be on Broadway. I sing and Act, all I need is to work on my dance. I love the new musicals. Spring Awakening, Wicked, Rent, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I just can't get enough.

I love Broadway. I have been collecting different musicals for over a year now. At this point, I have nearly two days worth of music plus I am waiting right now for an amazon order of a dozen or so more cds. Most of my collection is older stuff, as I have been finding those best of cds online and then buying all the musicals they use in them. I loved Wicked by the way, even though they kinda skipped major parts of the book.

About the Rent movie. I fell asleep through it the first time, but I had been passing out in class all that week, and working my ass off in between classes. When I had enough time for sleeping again, I found that I really enjoyed it and bought the DVD.

yeah they did skip a bunch of the book, but i think the musical was meant for the younger audiences and plus sex on a broadway stage would be corny :P But yeah, I'm looking for older musicals too because I don't have enough audition pieces to try out for a musical that i desperatly want to be in with my local city theatre building. It's called Into the Woods and i just started taking vocal lessons so I hope to be the lead in that one :P And rent, I overloaded on it, so i'm pretty much taking a big break hehe

I'm not the biggest fan, but there are some I really quite like, and some that I've had a big part in:

Naughty sound engineer sneaking sneaking sidestage with his camera!
And a manual focus film camera, too...

While you're at it, feel free to check out my other pics. There aren't that many, but I'm getting around to uploading some of my 6gig archive from December last year, and some more from before that...

I recently stumbled across this musical while watching the Tony Awards called Spring Awakening, it seems like a wonderful musical, the soundtrack is AMAZING. You guys should hear it, it's very up-to-date and modern type of musical :)

Raain, Into the Woods is a great musical. It's all about a bunch of the Grimm's fairy tales sort of getting mixed together. They all sort of end like they do in act one, but in act two, they continue the stories a few years later. It also has some morals, like a standard musical.

Cirquefanian, that is so awesome to be part of the German version of Rent. Roger is not a bad character at all.

Oh well, there was a reason for you not doing that. I have no idea what it was, but something good will happen.

I've been a big fan of Broadway shows ever since my parents first started taking me to the theatre with them before I was even in high school. We have an extremely vibrant theatre scene in Toronto and many shows open here before they go to Broadway, and come back here for revivals.

I'm undoubtedly dating myself when I tell this, but I think the first big musical I ever saw in person was a revival of Carousel - starring Harve Presnell and Jerry Orbach. And what was so thrilling for me was that the cameo role of the Starkeeper was played by the famous veteran comedian Edward Everett Horton (whom I doted on from his tv roles, etc.) I believe it was his very last role before he died...

Ah, the memories...

I have to say that I just don't get the appeal. As someone with some classical vocal training, I find broadway singing painfully untechnical--it's pop vocals; they're using like 40% of their instrument. Plus, the music itself seems so... commercial to me, so synthetic and poppy. It has a lot of energy but offers very little complexity, especially for someone who is familiar with western art music.

Speaking of synthetic and poppy, if you like broadway style music, have some pop recorder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0a8k_s4ako). I find this music almost killingly obnoxious, especially in comparison to something like this quartet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1BV-fwqkJ4), but the comparison sort of illustrates what I'm talking about.

Hmmm, this got a little off topic. Sorry!
