I was just watching TV when there was something about obsesity.
They were saying there is a virus called Ad-36 that mixed up with a chicken virus called SMAM-36 or something, and that a new Ad-36 evolved that make people fat. They tested it on chickens and it worked. But there were no human people that wanted to be a test dummys.....
Now my question is...Could this be true  i dont really believe it. But IF its true... i hope i might catch the virus :p , its not something like Elephantitis..This virus got the same effect as eating too much fatty stuff.

I watched to the end of the program and INDEED it IS a virus... well.. from eating fatty things and stuff you allso get fat.. but there is a virus that does it for you without having to eat anything more then you normally do. It were identical twins, they allways have the same weight and height, but in some cases one weighs more then the other, they tested the pair, and concluded the skinny sister was "clean" and the fatter sister was "infected" by the virus :D

Well if scientists were testing this virus I bet that many guys from this forum would like to serve as guinea pigs :) - especially me :)

Have a link to a story about it? Think I heard something about this before, not sure if it's the same story though.
How does it actually work? It would seem the only way you'd end up gaining weight if your caloric intake didn't change would be if you somehow ended up expending less calories than before. Perhaps it effects metabolism somehow?

Is this (http://archives.cnn.com/2000/HEALTH/07/28/fat.virus.ap/index.html) the one you mean?

These excerpts are taken from news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/854584.stm
"Experiments with animals suggest that AD-36, a virus which causes coughing, sneezing and cold-like symptoms, interferes with the normal process of absorbing food energy and converts far more of it into fat. ... the scientists found that the animals had put on large amounts of body fat, almost 2.5 times more than normal. ..." Can you imagine yourself being injected with this virus and weighting 2.5 times more than now? With this I could change from 188 into 470 lbs fat boy in just few days... And what about you :) ?
I remember a gaining story I found on web about a beg between two slim guys. They decided not to see each other for about half a year and spend this time only eating and gaining. At the end of the period the heavier of them should win possessions of the beaten one. One of the guys, the hero of the story, met a fat coach who injected him with a virus. This virus started to change everything this guy ate into bodyfat and turned him into a giant. Great story but I was unable to find Part 2 - and now I don´t even remember the site. Do you know the name of this story or where to find it?

It sounds perfectly reasonable. Better not touch the fatties or you might become a ham-monster, lawl.

Well, the fatties are obviously already infected, and recovered from the infection. Apparantly it are the skinny people with a common cold you should keep close to if you're interested in becomming infected.
I also remember seeing this documentary. The researcher claimed he couldn't investigate his theory fully because that would mean infecting healthy, skinny people with the virus. "And that would be unethical, of course".
Hmmm... Where can I sign up to become a guinney pig :D
